Ohio

Being with my boys again is so good. I got lots of hugs and kisses and tickles today. I am richly blessed.
I think by the time I get home my butt may be forever numb after all these long drives.
The boys have been busy working in the workshop with Papa Buzz.

Tonight my extra family came over for what was supposed to be a bonfire/cookout, only we got a hard rain right as they were coming that soaked the wood, so we ate inside. My heart was so full of good conversaton and love tonight! A few outtakes...
Three kids with huge grins that had teeth missing. Rowdy games inside and out - pillow fights, hide and seek, throwing the ball for Marley. Tyler is has almost passed me up in height, was AMAZING at playing with the younger kids and the dog. He played catch with the boys, let them hide with him and dogpile on him. So kind and respectful and gentle. When he first walked in I almost thought it was his uncle, whom I have gotten to watch grow up since He was 2. Crazy! Kinsey is beautiful and fun and just jumped right into it with the boys. They all fit together like PB&J!
Papa Bear is a farmer and some of my most poinant memories as a teen involve visiting them and their farm. We were talking about gardening, and they were joking about how I hauled a truck full of cow manure into base housing for my garden. I shared how I have had a lot more struggles with my garden in NE. Manure is THE best thing for a garden, and Mama Bear said, "I think there is a spiritual lesson in there somewhere"... S*** makes things grow. Life is full of it. Sometimes we need to let it compost for a while, but it will enrich our lives if we let it. I have been reading Hinds Feet on High Places. Her companions in the book are Sorrow and Suffering. I have stalled out about halfway through on this book because the allegory has been hitting so close to home and my heart is raw. I am pretty sure that when some of my life is done composting my life will be a lot richer and more productive because of the s*** that has covered a lot of things the last several years.
We laughed and shared and caught up. Then we went downstairs to show Manddi and Mama Bear our quilting. Mom checked the dehumidifier and it was overflowing. For some reason the sensor did not kick it off when it was full. I was carrying it to the bathroom to dump it in the tub and kept splashing water all over the floor. When I got to the tub the curtain was mostly closed, so I decided to shove the curtain out of the way and dump in one fell swoop so I didn't have to bother anyone to help me. I figured it would spill into the tub if it splashed anyway. As the water started to pour and the curtain popped open I see Tyler and Gavin piled in the botom of the tub. Did I mention there were some crazy games of hide and seek going on? I scream, "GET UP!!!" as the water plummets onto them. All the ladies come running in time to see two boys jumping out of the tub like cats running from a bath. Too funny!
Tomorrow is laundry, repacking, and start April quilting block of the month. English Paper Piecing. Hexagons and handwork this month. Glad that Mom and I are doing this together. It is very special. Tomorrow I will take some pictures of my works in progress and our completed quilt blocks with my ipad camera.
You will have to wait till I get home to see the lighthouse, food, and other pictures from my trip as I forgot my card attatchment or download cord for my camera...
Sleep is calling me.

Thursday.

Wake up and head to the deck.

Dolphins. All morning long. Dozens of them. Some close. Some far away. Some lazy and slow. Some playful and doing flips out of the water. They are hard to photograph, and all I have is my ipad, so look for little fins in the photos. There were birds playing in the surf that was so minimal. The loon was back, just floating on the ocean as the sun came up, and later fishing. I may or may not have seen a whale spout out toward the horizon. I saw a fishing bird dive from a height straight into the water just feet from the edge of the surf and come up with a white fish. It got so hot i put on my bathing suit top with my shorts and read in the sunshine with 30 spf on.

Can you see the dolphin fins in the above and below photos?

Then I took a break inside so I didn't get burnt. The wind shifted to coming in from over the ocean and now I am dressed in layers, playing guitar and watching the gulls float on the waves and periodically the pelicans fly overhead in groups all in a line. They did this all morning fishing in a line just inches over the surface of the water. Every afternoon they have flown overhead like this, so here they come...

I hope that as long as I live I never forget these things that God has made and the beauty and power of the ocean. There are no words or photographs...so thankful to get to EXPERIENCE all of this.

Good Morning World

This morning I woke up just after the sun was above the horizon and walked the beach looking for shark teeth for Seth and Gavin. A lady I met yesterday told me that she has only ever found one in walking the beach daily all the years she has lived here... However, I found sea glass and a man gave me a starfish that had washed up. I watched some surfers. And just now there was a loon diving for his breakfast in the surf.

I found out that Seth has a fever today and they are warching movies with Papa Buzz this morning. Mommy loves you, Seth, and Daddy and I are praying for you!!!!!

Last night I came out after dark and the stars were beautiful! The tide was very high and all the waves were frothy and coming right up among the dune fences! The power of the ocean is amazing. Yesterday was super windy and cold on the beach, but today ks already calmer and warmer and still sunny and beautiful!

I am so thankful to make the aquaintence of the ocean.

Ohio

Cousin time!

Notes...

After being told to pass out carrots to everyone to share based on their age I joked that I needed 37 carrots. They all giggled. Seth said, "Papa Buzz has to eat 260 carrots!"

Visited with some special friends- Ashley and Amanda.

Quilting with mom.

Gavin lost his first tooth!!!! (And the tooth fairy remembered to come.)

The trip here set a new record. 11.5 hours with only one potty/food stop. Now Gavin has to go potty at least every hour. Yesterday returning from Aunt Sarah's Gavin informed me that he was car sick. I asked him if he knew what that meant. "No". He is just sick of being in the car.

Favorite experience with the dog has by far been taking him to the river for a hike. He LOVED swimming and was fantastic at coming when he was called. We popped the leash on him when other people or dogs were going by and practiced heeling, but I loved how happy he was. Gavin was not a fan of the dog being off the leash, but I am pretty sure Marley is going to do great when we go camping.

Seth is full of great ideas and inventions. We went to breakfast this morning. I am about to take Gavin out for a mommy date, too. Then the beach will be calling me. Seth requested I would look for a shark tooth for him. I am looking forward to looking for shells as well. And the cool ocean breeze will be lovely after this summer weather we have been having. ;o)
