It's futile.
Two nights ago after putting the boys to bed I glanced out the window to see one of the baby bunnies running out of my garden. I ran it off and decided to use the dog hair my neighbor Molly brought me from the groomers. I made rings of dog hair around my green peppers and roses (the plants the bunnies seem to be most fond of. Yesterday morning I woke up and peeked outside to see how my new line of defence was faring. To my surprise I saw an entire flock of birds in my garden stealing the dog hair to line their nests!!! Great. Now I have to come up with plan P since A-O didn't seem to work! Hopefully I can at least get the lettuce and carrots and other plants big and healthy enough that a little nibble here and there won't hurt them. :o)!

The weather report.
Several (3 or more) days in the last week or so one of the boys has told me that it is snowing outside. Nope - it is the cotton from the cottonwood trees blowing! And my allergies are always the worst when the cotton is blowing. I have not had allergies this bad since I was a kid, and for some reason my meds are not helping AT ALL this time. I ended up putting cucumbers on my eyes to cool them off one night - it really helped, even if it was a bit odd. :o)! Can't wait for things to settle down outside. LOVING all the growing things, though. Today we planted more onions, lettuce, carrots, and replanted a couple of bushes from in front of the house that were getting crowded out. I am also pulling up all my bulbs - some of them early - because I discovered that some of the bulbs were rotting in the ground. That could explain why some of my bulbs didn't come up this spring if those gardens don't have good drainage. I plan on mixing them into my regular garden for next spring, not all concentrated together. We are doing well, even with Daddy being gone and being stuck at home all week. Anybody want to go strawberry picking with us on Saturday?
Faster than Lightning
Gavin sometimes gets by with having me do more things for him because it is easier and I don't really know if he can do things on his own or not (and would rather not have a full on fight to find out.) One of those things that has been questionable was Gavin's ability to put on his own pants by himself. This week he had to have rectal temps done frequently while he was sick and he HATES it. One morning I had changed his diaper and turned around to grab the thermometer. In the 20 seconds it took me Gavin was standing on the bed with his pajama pants totally on all by himself because he did NOT want to have his temp taken. I guess that answers that question! :0)
Both boys are 24 hours no fever finally!!! Yay! I think we are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate and get out of the house.

Bedtime!
We kept busy today (day 3 in quarentine from being sick). Mommy was doing well - thanks for praying, it is making a huge difference despite lack of sleep from Seth waking up a LOT in the night from coughing! The boys were cranky, getting on each others' nerves, crying easily, not very hungry. Seth was running a fever again. All in all it was a good day filled with cleaning, gardening, playing outside, watching a little tv, and being together. Tonight after eating a bedtime snack and playing outside we had bathtime and wore our new jammies Daddy got us before going on his trip. Then we did a few songs w/ Mommy on the guitar, read the Bible, got out our special Daddy animals (for when he is gone on long trips), and went right to bed! Yay!!! (Separate rooms for bedtime is working out really well!) Enjoy the pictures of Seth and Gavin in their new pj's!

Funny quote of the day.
Seth asks me: Can we play "grey goose" and eat the doughnut when we hang it on the hammock chair? (Big grin.) We did that in Texas.
I think I need to start planning some more family game nights. They seem to be important to Seth, even if he didn't remember everything accurately. I sure love my boys!

Four.
The number of times Gavin has bit Seth today. I think I have a problem on my hands. Any suggestions? :o)!
Ready... Set... No Go!
Well, we have spent a busy week getting ready for A's long trip. I made a lot of plans to keep myself and the boys busy while he is gone - something fun for every day. And they are sick - yesterday Seth topped out with a 103 fever and Gavin at 102.5. They have an ugly dry cough (intermittantly), and Mommy has them quarentined at home till they are well again. So much for going to the zoo, swimming, making cupcakes w/ Mommy's big kids... We are doing well, though. I will be putting a yellow bow on our trees this week, and checking into getting a free pass to the YMCA while A. is gone. A note on Nebraska - I have not had allergy problems this bad since I was a kid!!!! I guess things grow well here. Speaking of growing - the bunnies had stayed out of my garden for a while, but then started trying to move back in in the last few days. The battles are on again! At least they are good for lots of entertainment value. Yesterday I got my friend who stopped by to chase one around the yard and out of the garden for me. I am sure the neighbors are getting some good laughs off of us! Thanks for all the love and prayers - we can tell you guys are praying for us for sure!
