Update.

We came home on Sunday. Seth was miserable most of the way home - he had a 102.4 fever by the time we got here. He needed to be held a lot today, but seemed to be doing better by the end of the day. Pookie and the Hoff family got here in time for a late dinner. After letting the kids run off some energy we read a Bible story together and put them to bed. Then Rachel and Craig made Mom delicious cherry pie for her birthday - we stayed up late to eat it warm from the oven while watching a bad french movie and then SYTYCD reruns. Hoping for a visit to an orchard and pj storytime at the library tomorrow night. It is good to have my sister here for a visit. I am very tired and headed to bed now. Lots of love. Andrew we sure miss you. Hope you enjoy all the pictures and updates. We were thinking about you and wishing you could join us!

Go inside.

Abby and I toted the kiddos around in her mini-van for much of the week. One day we were trying to get all the kids inside and not have them wander off (naptime maybe?). I told Seth emphatically to go inside and see Aunt Rachel. He disappeared. I sent Gavin and Isaac the same direction while I got Hannah out of the car. The littler guys were hovering around the door to inside and playing. I was getting Hannah out as the garage door closed. Then a few minutes later it went up again. Abby was across from me getting Audrey out and said, "those boys!" (or something to that effect). As we walked with the girls towards the door Seth walks towards me and says, "I rang the doorbell, but Aunt Rachel didn't answer!!!" I didn't even know he was still outside, so I was surprised to see him. I look up and see that next to the door is a doorbell switch used for the garage door. Abby and I just laughed and laughed. When Rachel heard us coming in she came to help and we asked her, "Why didn't you answer the doorbell?!?" Seth is so reliable - he sure tried!

M is for Mountain.

I took Seth, Gavin, and Pookie up to the Georgetown Loop to ride the train. This is something we have never gotten to do before, and it ended up being a little cloudy, but beautiful day. First we stopped at a Bighorn Sheep overlook. We didn't see any, and it was SUPER windy. It really felt like fall! Then we went to get on the train. Here it is coming around the loop to get us! I sure miss mountain streams. Here is a beautiful one - Clear Creek.
I love these people!
We are ready to go!
Beautiful aspen trees!
Another look at the rapids on Clear Creek.
Looking at the engine as we round the bend:
Blue sky breaks out, finally! This is the view from on top of the tressel.
The engineer and conductor waving to Gavin as they move the engine from one end of the train to the other:
My little guys climbing on rocks:
We had a beautiful day and are going to put pictures and notes from our time in the mountains in our nature journals. Sure is different from Nebraska...or Texas...or Florida...or Ohio. The mountains get into your blood and stay there. I think Andrew feels the same way about lakes as I do about mountains. Anyhow, we headed to Idaho Springs for lunch at Beau Jo's - yummy pizza. I stopped at Miner Decadence for some chocolate to bring home for my small group and had to get some dark chocolate turtles for eating. Yum, yum, extra yum! I am so glad we were able to make it up to the mountains on this trip!

Cousin Camp Pinata

Hannah: Audrey:
Gavin:
Katie:
Isaac:
Seth:
Ben:
Did anyone else notice how many of them closed their eyes when they were swinging? :o)!

Cousin Camp Fiesta!

For Cousin Camp we had a lot of great activities - Mexico picture books, make tissue paper flowers, musical chairs to mariachi music, Mexican hat dance, color Mexican flags, watch a funny video for learning Spanish (so ridiculous that the adults who were supposed to be making lunch got distracted and watched it!), and we saved a few activities to do with all the adults: taco and enchilada dinner w/ mexican soda pop, pin the tail on the donkey, and of course a pinata! The adults might have had more fun that the kids. ;o)! Here is Abby all ready to pin her tail on the donkey! Greg all ready to go...
...only he tried to pin the tail on me instead of the donkey, but I was ready for him and grabbed Abby as my shield:
Abby got the tail on her behind instead of the donkey. And Greg rejoices!
My lovely big sister Rachel!
A good time was had by all, and the next day the kids requested to do cousin camp again. Again, but you are gonna have to wait till next trip, Ben!

Cousin Camp

We tried to get a great photo of all the cousins when we did cousin camp. Not so much. :o)
We sure love these kids! Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with these great kids! We are missing Beth, Leah and Anna - they couldn't make it because of Beth's school schedule, so we are sending the Fiesta to them via Pookie! Hope they have fun as well.

Lindy Visit

Abby and I drove down to meet Lindy's beautiful baby girl. We were so proud of ourselves. 5 carseats and kiddos in one van. All pottied, loaded up w/ snacks and diapers/pull-ups if necessary, and on time. Halfway to the Springs: "Uh, Abby...that is snow!" Yup, snow - sticking to the grass and signs and cars. And we have some kids in short sleeves and no jackets! HA! So much for having it all together. We stopped at Kohls and got the kiddos something a little warmer to wear. We got there and Lindy suggested the Focus visitor center to hang out with all our kiddos since they have such a small place. It was great since the weather was blah for babies to be outside. Here is my beautiful sister and her fabulous mode of transportation with three small kiddos! She works HARD and I am so proud of her - I know I wouldn't make it with twins (thus God hasn't given me any!) My little gentleman holding the door for everyone!
My little bug - crawling through a tunnel. He is just so stinkin' cute these days - I just want to eat him up!
Lindy - she is a beautiful mom. I found that we didn't get any heart to heart time w/ all the little ones scrambling all over, but it was great to meet Lorien and hold her and pray for her and love on her! She is beautiful, peaceful, and even sleeping would only close one eye at a time so she didn't miss a thing - so cute!!!
Precious -only cousins, not brothers. Gavin was doing his own thing this day.
Our attempt at a group shot. Yup, there were more than 3 kids...
...Gavin wouldn't scoot over to be part of the gang...
...and Audrey made her getaway!
We were sad we didn't make it down to the Springs later in the week to see the Betz family, but I had to come back early because Gavin's dr.'s office hadn't called confirming his MRI (so I spent a lot of time on the phone today to discover that nothing was done to get the final insurance approval and had to cancel it - yay, more time w/ Rachel and family tomorrow!) The weather in CO was cold and rainy for almost the whole week, but it was really great to spend time with people we love!
